Privacy Policy
Paperlark for Android (app.paperlark.reader) · Last updated 4 November 2026
This policy explains what information the Paperlark app collects, why, and what choices you have. Paperlark has no user accounts and does not ask for your name, email address or phone number.
Your books
- Paperlark opens only the files you pick with the Android file picker or open with Paperlark from another app. It does not ask for access to your whole storage.
- For a book you pick, the app keeps permission to read that file; for a book opened from another app, it keeps a private copy in its own storage. Your library, reading positions, bookmarks, plans and book covers are stored only on your device.
- Books and reading data are never uploaded to us or to any third party. Only your app preferences are included in Android backup.
- Uninstalling the app or removing a book from the shelf deletes the data the app kept for it. Your original files are not changed.
Notifications
The notification permission is requested only if you turn on the daily reading reminder, which is scheduled on your device. You can revoke it in Android settings.
Information collected by third-party services
The app uses Google services for advertising, analytics and crash reports. They collect some information automatically:
| Service | What it collects | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Advertising ID, device and app information, approximate location derived from your IP address, ad interactions | Showing ads, measuring ads, preventing fraud |
| Google User Messaging Platform | Your consent choices | Asking for and storing consent where the law requires it |
| Firebase Analytics | App interactions (for example, screens opened), app instance ID, device information | Understanding how the app is used and improving it |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash logs, diagnostic and device information | Finding and fixing crashes |
None of these services receive your books or what you read. This information is sent over an encrypted connection and is processed by Google under its own terms: see Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Consent and your choices
- If you are in a region where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time in the app: Settings → Privacy options.
- You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your Android settings (Google → Ads, or Privacy → Ads).
- You can stop all data collection by uninstalling the app.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with the service providers listed above, for the purposes listed above, or when required by law.
Data retention and deletion
Data collected by Google services is kept according to Google's retention settings (analytics data for up to 14 months). Because the app has no accounts, we cannot link this data to you; to request deletion of data associated with your device, write to the address below and we will forward your request to Google where possible.
Children
Paperlark is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
